Zanesh Dwaine, 49 years old man was rushed to Orange City Hospital in Nagpur as he suffered from intracranial bleeding. As soon as he reached the hospital, he was declared brain dead as his brain was completely damaged due to massive bleeding. Zanesh’s family decided to donate his organs; the heart and the liver which saved 2 lives in Mumbai and Pune respectively.
Global Hospitals Mumbai received the information about the available organs from ZTCC at around 1:30 am on 24th August; after which the team at the hospital was alerted and reached Nagpur by 10:00 am to retrieve the organs. At around 2:15 pm the team left from Nagpur with the liver and the heart and reached Mumbai at 3:40 pm. The initial plan was to take a chartered plane to Nagpur but however due to some technical glitch the team had to take a commercial flight for retrieval of the organ, however they came back with the organs in a chartered flight and the chartered flight was arranged from Delhi Also, the liver reached Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital in Pune in another 30 mins from Mumbai in the same chartered plane.
A green corridor was created in Mumbai wherein the heart reached Global Hospitals in just 17 minutes from the airport; especially on a day when the traffic was at its peak due to Ganeshotsav.
